Back in 2017, at a house concert hosted by Renée, Cheshire Moon’s Lizzie reached out to Sooj to ask about her April Fool’s Day plans, partly because Sooj has long had a song about April Fool’s Day Sundays. Renée agreed to host, and a dream concert was born! In lieu of Mama Dragon’s tradition of hosting a Looney Tunes ritual, we offer this whimsical, witty online show! All are welcome, and there’s room for everybody!
Cheshire Moon is the fanciful collaboration of trickster bird Lizzie Crowe and crazed magician Eric Coleman. Eric’s love of punk, folk and prog rock gives them an eerie, otherworldly sound, while Lizzie brings the voice of that otherworld to life in melody and verse. Together they weave song and story, breathing new life into old myths, new faces onto old gods, and finally telling the princess’s side of the faerie tale.
Renée Janski can not remember life without singing and music. She began playing piano at the age of four, and joined her school orchestra in sixth grade. She has been in love with music her entire life. Janski has performed operatic and oratorio pieces internationally and played nationally with various rock, bluegrass and jazz ensembles, like Big Bad Gina. Her Rollicking Solo shows are hilarious and thoughtful and keep her audiences thoroughly entertained! Janski, a Buddhist and yogi, has an active spiritual life and believes that it has a huge influence on her work and music. Her Roma ethnicity also plays a huge role in her musical style.
Zeze Oiseau is the sassy, sexy, musical fusion of Glamazon Goddess Renée Janski and Pixie Queen S. J. Tucker. With big bold backgrounds in the world opera scene, theatre, gospel, rock, and the vibrant witchy festival circuit here in the USA, these two snazzy songbirds combine their powers to present a goddess’s ransom of shimmy-worthy original tunes on keys and guitar. Arkansan-born world travelers Sooj and Renée are award-winning songwriters and performers who are both authentic and approachable, always seeking to lift the spirit when they lift their voices, and to fire the soul as they share songs with us and with each other.
