New Audiobook out now!

My audiobook production of Denise Parkinson’s Daughter of the White River is available now via iTunes, Amazon, and Audible!  Follow this link to start listening!

I got a bit excited and created a short trailer video for the audiobook. Feel free to share it around!  Don’t ask me if other people ever make trailers for audiobooks. Is that even a thing?  I’m making it a thing, if not!

Thanks to all of you for your support, even when I divert from music briefly to use my acting chops in this way, to read to you into a microphone and make a different kind of art, a different kind of connection.  This project has been very important to me, and I’m honored to have it out in the world now.  Young Arkansan Helen Spence’s tragic story lives on because of it.  This is my second time to produce an audiobook in the studio, my third time to narrate one! If audiobooks are not your thing, no worries!  I’m hard at work again on music, and I’ll keep getting new song content out into the world as the autumn settles in.  Follow or pledge with me on Patreon for early listens and other goodies!  https://www.patreon.com/sjtuckermusic

Other news: Women of Substance Radio has featured two of my tunes in two of their podcast episodes, over the past two weeks! Listen here!

Thank you!

Thank you all for your support and attention this year!  Now that I have the audiobook off my plate, I can focus on enjoying this month’s performances, on celebrating my little son’s first birthday, and on recording and mixing the new witchy album to come.  As big a year as it’s been, you’d think I could cut myself a little more slack about my snail’s pace with album completion. Ha.

Thank you for being part of what keeps me going. I hope you find plenty of inspiration for your own creative pursuits this Autumn.

Final Concert Window Show Aug 22!

I’m posting to make absolutely sure everyone knows I have an online concert tomorrow evening (Thurs. Aug 22) at 8 Eastern/7 Central/6 Mountain/5 Pacific, on my Concert Window channel:

 http://www.concertwindow.com/sjtuckermusic

This will be my last-ever show on that platform.  Concert Window will shut down forever next month, according to an email I received earlier this month from their current CEO.  Please tune in if you can, to help me make it a truly grand finale.

I’m on the hunt for the next streaming site to host my online shows, but I have not yet found one that’s the right fit.  I’d love to let you all know once I HAVE found that new online concert home.  To that end, if you’d like to be on an email list JUST for future online concerts of mine, please shoot me a quick email.  I’ll create that list as soon as I know what my plan going forward will be, and I’ll add your email address so that I can fill you in.

Thank you all for your support this year and always, however long or short a time we have been connected. You keep me singing into the dark, the light, the landscape, and my microphones, no matter what else is happening.

Watch the Thursday night online show here:  http://www.concertwindow.com/sjtuckermusic
You choose the ticket price, you choose your level of participation in the chat window, and you choose your own location to watch.  Grab friends.  Grab a snack.  Cuddle in and enjoy. Thank you so, so much for tuning in if you’re not busy.

Highlight reel from July 16!

Here’s the song I chose for Concert Window’s show highlight on YouTube, from my July 16 online concert. This is “Fruit Seller’s Song”, so new it’s still squeaky. I’m really pleased with how this whole show went, and I’d love to hear from you when you’d be most available to watch the next one! I plan to give at least one, possibly two, during mid-August to coincide with my #MerryMeetMiniTour – write me and let me know whether you’d rather watch an online show on a weekday or a weekend, afternoon or evening.

Traveling Songs now unlocked for free listening & download of each separate tune!

Since these songs all happened because I said yes to something that scared me, I said yes to another thing that scares me: namely unlocking the whole set for previewing, free listening, and individual downloads of each song. Why’s that scary, Sooj?

Well fam, these are all rowdy and rough recordings, you see, and a good portion of them are straight up iPhone voice memos that I’ve cleaned up just a little. And let’s face it, internet randos can say really shitty things. I have a hard time not letting that blindside me on the rare occasion that it happens in my direction. I’m really laying out my guts with these tunes, unpolished as they are.

But after consulting with my fabulous online audience during my broadcast last night and getting a whole heap of support from them for the idea, my courage is up. I’ve set Traveling Songs to go public. I began offering this collection as a direct-from-the-artist promotion three years ago this month, and the results were very rewarding. We’ll see how this new method works out! I hope y’all enjoy what you hear. Thanks for the encouragement. 🙂

Online show tomorrow (Tuesday)!!

Hi folks, just a quick post to invite you to my one and only show this month, which will be an online one!
Watch here: https://www.concertwindow.com/sjtuckermusic
I’ll begin at 7pm CDT (8 Eastern/6 Mtn/5 Pacific), tech willing!
Online shows never run out of space, so I hope you can join me!  Feel free to follow my Concert Window channel at that link also- they’ll send you an email reminder any day that I have a concert scheduled there!

NEXT MONTH

I have concerts in Oklahoma (Aug 14 in Lawton) and New Mexico (Aug 16 in Albuquerque), and I plan to set up another online show as well!
I’ve named it the “MerryMeetMiniTour and all the info is on my tour page: https://sjtucker.com/tour

OTHER COOL THINGS

In case you missed it, my tour mate Leslie Hudson has a Kickstarter campaign going for her next full length record, for which I got to contribute some guitar!  She has a little less than a week left to reach her goal.  Please visit the campaign and back it if you are able:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/keepleftatthefork/keep-left-at-the-fork-faerie-album-and-fine-arts-nexus

Did you know I’m on Patreon now as a creator?  You’re welcome to visit or pledge at any time: http://www.patreon.com/sjtuckermusic

Thank you all for reading and for being part of this magic and music with me.  I’ve been spending a lot of time at home over the past few weeks, and I’m happy to say that the new songs I’ve been writing and the recording sessions I’ve managed to carve out have really kept me smiling!  Can’t wait to share more new music with you all.  Watch tomorrow if you can, and if not, I’ll see you soon somehow.

Keep Left at the Fork

My song sis Leslie Hudson has a fundraiser going for a gorgeous new album project which has already inspired tons of other tangible works of art. Please boost and back it if you’re able! Her birthday was yesterday and for us story-singers, there’s no better gift than proof that folks believe in what we do.

Shows this month, airplay, flooding

I’ve got two shows this month, one in Northwest Arkansas and one online, with a potential second online show around the 24th!  I’ll share a Fayetteville show with Renée Janski on June 13- get tickets here: http://soojliveinfayetteville.bpt.me

She and I will give an online show on Father’s Day evening on my Concert Window channel: http://www.concertwindow.com/sjtuckermusic

My “Girl from the River” song was featured in Part 2 of KUAR Arts & Letters’ program on the life of Arkansas outlaw Helen Spence last weekend, and I think Part 2 of their “She was of the River” show turned out even slicker than part 1! Listen to the archive if you like at http://www.ualrpublicradio.org

Parts of Arkansas near the Arkansas River are currently underwater, but we are safe and sound so far at my place.  I promise we will take care and evacuate if we are advised to do so, but as I said, so far we are 100% safe. If you’re traveling through the state and want to make sure you know whether or not your route is clear, check IDriveArkansas.com I’ll share and boost disaster relief information as it comes.

News and New Single for you (and for NPR!)

I figured I’d better get this out there since it’s going to be part of an upcoming 2-part episode of Arts & Letters on my local NPR station, KUAR 89.1 FM!  Host Brad is presenting a pair of shows about the short life of Helen Spence, Arkansan outlaw and child of the Lower White River- my song is inspired by the same, and Brad chose to include it at the behest of local author Denise Parkinson, who’s been my buddy and cheerleader ever since her book (yep, the one I’m producing the audiobook for right now) brought us together in 2017.

More about the radio show

I’m hitting the road for the first time since January one week from today. By this time next Tuesday, I’ll be setting up for my concert in Lawton, Oklahoma, which is my one stop on the way to the Beltania festival in Colorado.  Help me spread the word?  I wanna fill those seats with friendly faces.  It’s been a while, and this will only be my third trip out of state with the baby boy on board.  Thank you all.

Where to buy tickets

My next online show will be Sunday, May 19, at 8pm CDT.  I’ll be broadcasting from Colorado, fresh from the Beltania festival, likely with some fun stories to share!  Tune in here.

I’ll be back in northwest Arkansas for a live concert on June 13! Come see me!
