Two Quick End-of-August Announcements

1. I have a show! On Saturday! In Nashville!  At which I will debut at least one new song!  Thorne and Edie just sent a promo flyer – please download and share around, especially if you’re in the Nashville, TN area.  It’s a PDF, and it looks great!  Download below:

2. I’m running an art/music/creativity contest on my Facebook music page through Saturday, inspired by a new song I wrote this month called “Little Bird”.  Check out the contest, the rules, and the beautiful entries already posted.  There’s still plenty of time to participate, and everybody who jumps on board gets a free mp3 of “Little Bird” from me as soon as it’s recorded!

Good Stuff Coming

Sanctuary of Light presents Sooj and local guest performers on Saturday, August 31st! Come and get your boogie on with Tennessee’s favorite prodigal Pagan songstress as she returns to familiar ground for the first time in ages. Doors open at 7pm. Local performers will entertain from 7:15-7:45pm. S. J. starts at 8pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Proceeds go to the performers and to Sanctuary of Light’s Pagan/Wiccan prison ministry. Special thanks to Edith, our PUF family, and the local CUUPS. Come one, come all!

That’s the most immediate news, but I also wanted to let you know that I’ve got a couple of other events next month.

Another Dream Come True

Hi, everyone! I just got home from the summer leg of my tour, and I’m recovering blissfully from the road.  Hello from our little piece of paradise!  I hope you’re all having grand adventures.

It’s my pleasure to announce that a couple of new and nifty things I’ve long been waiting for are now for realsies and in the world.

Two of my favorite makers, my friends Liv and Andross in Kansas City, have released some amazing stuff upon the world this year, in addition to moving to a new house and sending their son off to college!

1. Many of you have seen me out on the road with the new Underhill Alchemy fragrance oil blends on my merch table!  There are now scents called the Tricky Pixie Collection: twelve perfumes directly inspired by the band and our music!  Check them out, along with the whole list of Underhill Alchemy fragrances right here!

2. This is the big news.  This fall, I’ll have the new S. J. Tucker Labyrinth pendants available at concerts! Andross and Liv and I have been talking about getting these pendants made for years, and now my brilliant friends have done it!  They’ll be available in silver or in pewter, with a vividly purple sugilite stone in the center! Sugilite is one of my favorite stones (partly because it’s pronounced “Sooj-a-lite”, but also because PURPLE), and it’s become increasingly rare in recent years. Liv and Andros searched until they found a supplier who had responsibly harvested, beautiful sugilite for the center of each pendant.  They’re just gorgeous, you guys.  I am over the moon that these are now in the world and that I can share them with you.

labyrinth pendants!

Up top: tarnish resistant sterling silver.  Underneath: oxidized tarnish resistant sterling silver (oooh, the dark side).  See me about these at a show, or order yours directly from Liv and Andross at their website.

Friends inspiring each other and thus bringing more beauty into the world = magic.

Welcome to the PixieHouse.

Hoping you’ll get a kick out of this.  I just posted a short video tour of my little cabin in the woods/recording studio on Youtube.  Feel free to watch and share.  Those of you who dream of having a creative space of your own, you can do this! I wish you luck with it, too!

Tips for aspiring performers

Johanna Steen asked me the following:
“A great many young aspiring musicians look up to you.
What are the hard truths they need to know about what it takes to succeed and make a life as a bard, and how do they know if they have the talent and drive to pursue that path?”

First of all, I think that if you have the drive, you know it. It won’t let you sleep, you get so excited about traveling and playing music. This was the case for me, at any rate.  More sane people think about this kind of thing, and it just makes them tired. 😉

I’ve limited myself to ten pieces of advice for those who’d take the chance on playing music full time. I hope you all find them useful!

This week: FAiRyLaNd at St. Lou Fringe!

I’m giving my concerts with the Heather Dale band this week a big push- we are performing Four times at the St. Lou Fringe Fest in St. Louis, starting tomorrow!

This is a *completely* new show for all of us, and we’re honored to get to share it with you.  The nature of a Fringe fest is that we only get a crowd if we tell our people what’s happening.

Tickets and badges are super affordable, and you can come and see us on Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday at 6pm, Saturday at 1:00pm, or Sunday at 6pm.

We’re at the same location for each show:

ANNONYarts at Sartori, 3003 Locust Street, St. Louis, MO 63103

Click on the “Tickets” and “badges” hyperlinks up there to grab your part of the action, OR just come straight to the show!  Fringe volunteers have badges and tickets right there at the door for you.  The badge is your event pass, required to attend any Fringe show, and it costs $5- kids under 12 get badges free!  Tickets for all of our shows are $10, and the fest lets us keep it all!

If you’re on Facebook, you can help us boost the signal!  I’ve created Facebook Events for all four shows:  ThursdayFridaySaturday, and Sunday.  We’re busy posting art (thanks to Matt Hawk!) and photos as we get ready, sharing our excitement and giving you sneak peeks.  We hope you’ll check those out, for sure.

May concerts in AR, NE, CO, NM, CA, NV; giveaways & news!

Hello, my favorite people. 🙂 I hope you’re having a gorgeous springtime thus far. It’s raining like crazy at my house today, but we’re hoping that the clouds are getting it all out of their system: we’re hosting a wedding tomorrow on the beautiful property where I’ve gone to ground, lovely Camp Timberlake! Cousin Whitney is marrying her beau Stephen, on the bridge of her grandmother’s water garden. And it will NOT be raining.

My gone-to-ground period is coming to a close very soon. I’m about to pack up my songs and my heart again, to get back out on the road, and come to see as many of you as I can. Here’s what’s in store for May!

Ember Days: The Album Is Here!

I just got all of the info posted on the “Buy” page, everybody!  Order your copy between noon CST 4/10/13 and 12:01AM on Monday 4/15/13, and I’ll autograph it and ship it myself!

Go here to purchase!

Woot, woot, the album's here!

S. J.’s first film score, for indie film Ember Days, hits hard and takes no prisoners! For the first time, S. J. shows her producer chops on something bigger and badder than her usual folk and fun!  Showcasing lush new instrumentals, goth-industrial elements, and even a shadow of dubstep here and there, this album also features new songs by S. J.’s friends Bekah Kelso and Alexander James Adams, composed exclusively for the film.  What’s the sound of Greek gods, Faery queens, and fallen angels all getting tangled up in each other’s dirty work?  Feast your ears on Ember Days and be inspired.  Listen for free at the download page!
